Hmm

I understand the gratuitous content and 'just a bit of fun' nature of this animation. But there was too much pointless swearing- every second word coming from the mum at the end was 'fucking'. It got fucking annoying so it fucking did.

The animation didn't really redeem either seeing as you relied completely on eyebrows to show facial expression- putting an ease on your tweens won't make it good animation.

SkoopleFloop responds:

Manchester eh? I live near you...

Hmm

Stick to the abstract stuff, becuase your figures are pretty bad. Don't let it detract from the rest though!

TheSJproduction responds:

Thanks for the feedback. the claymation was mostly focused on the morphing, the morph was so hard and time consuming, that the total outcome may not be the best outcome. :P But thanks, this is a very professional review, i like reviews like these, so i can learn from my mistakes, thanks :P

boo!

Hate it when cartoons reach critical acclaim because of their pre-made soundtrack. Boo! Write your own songs

Comick responds:

Thanks for totally disregarding that maybe the ANIMATION may have had some factor in people liking what they SAW. >:T

hehe

Nice one Ockers, good visual style

Ockeroid responds:

Thanks, Papa my man :D

This is great

You clearly show a grande knowledge of the software used.

If I was to nitpick something its the fact that you have gone for a solid manga/anime approach- it would benefit you greatly (and broaden your portfolio) to come up with your own visual style.

The very essence of manga/anime is that it cannot be unique.

DangerousBob responds:

that is a very good idea, and I agree with you defiantly. I was trying to keep it less "anime" ish with the character design but it doensn't really come off that way to much. I think it works more so with my Terminator animation. But thanks, that is defiantly noted.

I totally agree with the guy down below

To quote:

"This movie was... mediocre, at best. While you obviously have a good deal of skill using these programs, I feel as though there was very little creative process in creating this. It felt like a high school girl trying to be artsy by drawing colorful flowers and trees so her friends could tell her how good of an artist she was. Poor work, Mr. Gamecubicle."

This felt... needless, there was a total lack of narrative. Its almost as if this is just a showcase of what you can do rather than a short film, and as such it doesn't really please an intelligent audience much- In other words, this is all fair and well but lets see you put these skills to some use

GAMECUBICLE responds:

The concept indeed came from wanting to incorporate the things I can do into one movie. I wanted to make dreamlike flight through all kinds of animation, so that is what I did. But thanks for your honest opinion.

Its not 2003 anymore

Dated visuals, awful sound and a boring generic script. Stop using tweens and get onto some frame by frame, this will greatly improve your directing capabilities. Zoom and pan just don't cut it to keep interest for longer than 1 minute.

Toonwerks responds:

Response by th1rt3en: There are actually a few sequences that use symbols in a frame-by-frame manner with tweening used as actually inbetweening (the walk and run cycles for instance). Other motions are disconnected and required tweens to be broken up until they were mostly keyframes at times (such as arms).

As far as zooming and panning are concerned, I do that a lot. I mimic an actual, physical camera all the time in my animations. Rack focuses, parallax effects, pitch, yaw, roll, etc. I much prefer a dynamic canvas. (And I loath AS-cams.)

We're certainly going to put more of these things into the next parts, now that we've had the practice working with each others' skills. But ultimately, our main focus wasn't trying to amaze you with top-notch, frame-by-frame, animation. We're trying to tell a story, visually, and that requires more than just making fluid movement in drawings.

Was expecting more

This was well directed but both graphics and story were lacking. From the title I was expecting some kind of comedic play on black culture

PostTimeskipSam responds:

I will say the character design is pretty old and have improved since, but I'm still working on my background design. Appreciate the review and a title change would have been better.

Stickmen fighting...

Never seen anything like that before. It even has maces, swords, fire and the matrix soundtrack, totally original!

Stone-Steven responds:

needs more cockjokes! I know, I know :)

:O MathS

You gave your english guy a defunkt script. In the UK we dont say "Math", we say "Maths", always. Otherwise pretty good

TripleJx3 responds:

I see you picked up on that. I kept it as math cos I though if I changed it everyone would concentrait on how I pronounced it instead of what the video was saying. Tactical decision.
